Phone Number Rejected During Sign-Up

Creating a Dabble account requires an eligible phone number. Here are the key reasons a number might get rejected, and how to work through it.

Phone Number Compatibility Requirements

Dabble accepts standard mobile phone numbers only. The following aren't accepted for account creation:

  • VOIP (Voice over IP) numbers

  • Prepaid mobile numbers

  • Landline phone numbers

  • Numbers that don't conform to a valid format (e.g. incorrect country or area code)

  • Numbers unable to receive SMS verification codes, whether due to carrier restrictions or a block on Dabble's services

  • Specific carriers like Straight Talk, which as a prepaid provider aren't eligible for SMS verification

Make sure your number meets these criteria before attempting to create an account.

Self-Exclusion Policies

Some users are enrolled in a self-exclusion program that prevents new account creation on Dabble. Dabble partners with organizations including the Coalition for Fantasy Sports and idPair, which enforce these restrictions. If you're enrolled in one, this can't be overridden and an account can't be created.

Resolving Sign-Up Issues

  1. Verify your phone number type: confirm it isn't VOIP, prepaid, or a landline.

  2. Check for formatting errors: confirm the country and area code are correct.

  3. Check for prior use: if your number is already linked to an existing Dabble account, you won't receive a verification code when trying to create a new one - the system detects the duplicate and blocks it. Log into the existing account instead, resetting the password if needed. Dabble enforces one account per phone number.

  4. Resolve existing account conflicts: if the number was used on a partially created account, uninstall and reinstall the app, then use Forgotten Password to reset and complete setup.

  5. Technical troubleshooting: confirm you're on the latest app version, reinstall to refresh settings, and check your network coverage before retrying verification.

Contacting Support

If the steps above don't resolve it, Dabble Support may request additional verification - a valid photo ID, a selfie holding that ID, or a phone bill from your carrier confirming ownership of the number.

Completing this process can help release your number for use. Also double check your device can receive SMS and is actively connected to a mobile network, since technical issues or an inactive number can prevent verification codes from arriving.

Additional Considerations

  • Dabble enforces a one-account-per-phone-number policy as part of its Terms of Service, to maintain transparency and security.

  • Creating multiple accounts with the same credentials can lead to suspension or closure - log into the account already associated with your number instead.

  • If you don't currently have access to an eligible number, you'll need an alternate personal mobile number that meets the requirements above - there's no workaround for incompatible phone types.

  • If your residential address is flagged as invalid during account creation, you can provide documents like a utility bill or bank statement to verify and update it after registering.
